Drawing human figures requires a formula of sorts and a general knowledge of human anatomy that can be referenced at the top of the head. If you’re looking for tips on drawing male figure art, we’ve got a few quick ones to share as you start learning your next drawing school.
A basic tip is to start with the most generic shape, no need to get too fancy just yet. It’s important to keep in mind that human bodies come in many different shapes and sizes, so there is no such thing as a perfect template! It’s helpful to start with real-life pictures of a male figure to begin the basic shaping.
Try using a picture where each limb is clearly defined by the reference. For example, an image of a man sitting and crossing his arms would be a difficult reference as it’s not a clear silhouette to start outlining. Instead, find an image of a male running or doing something athletic where his arms, head, and legs are clearly pictured and not intersecting with one another.
